Bombay duck, or bombil as it is called locally, is one of Pakistan's iconic and differentiating culinary experiences. This charmingly misnamed delicacy is actually a fish, whose pungent odor is part of that special love-it-or-hate it-factor. One of the low cost fish that has no fishy odor and alot of bones. Probably the most common frying fish, Croaker is very versatile to use. If you are a seasoned seafood lover, you must have known this fish as this is one of the very famous local fish with a very strong fan following. Javelin Grunter is a highly seasonal fish that is abundant from February to September. Javelin Grunter looks and feels the same as snapper and emperor but has a slightly thicker and dense body. Commonly it's used for curry along with pieces of heads included but it’s as good as for frying. Because of its large head as compared to the body, the meat yield is very low as compared to other fish.
